Brainstorm, plan, animate, and produce at dangerously high speeds; so fast, so vigorously, yet gently with attention to detail, our butts simply... fall off.

New Challenge In Progress! - Erik

I've decided to revisit an older shot and put a few finaling touches on it. So far I've:

*Added polish to the root body movement

*Made a couple eye adjustments by
sharpening the movement up a bit.
*Added a blink on the first head turn
*Adjusted the position and motion of the elbows and hands- Hopefully the elbows appear to lead the hands more.

Wow!...it's late, about 3:00am. Later in the morning after a few hours of sleep I'll get back into this shot and add in a bit more complexity on the grab of the earphones with the left fingers, so it doesn't hit it's mark so perfectly.
Time to catch some ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz! Giddyup!

NEXT! (challenge) - Lauren

I've selected a 5 second clip from my short film that I'd like to get totally polished by May 17th. It's still pretty rough, so there's still plenty-o-work to keep me busy... Especially on Grampie, I've hardly touched him at all.

Here's a color render test of my short film... The candles are not yet on fire because I still have to figure out how to get them aflame. But do you like her as a little red head? I was able to fix the huge hair problem by getting rid of the part of the hair that would cover her head like a helmet. Then, all I did was color the skin directly on her head and attach ears and a pony tail. Thanks for that suggestion, Erik!

If you (or someone you know) would be up to the challenge of lighting this scene and would like credit on my film, please let me know! It'll be fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun! :D

Stop the maddness! Stop the nakedness! - Lauren

Hola!

I've given this animation a little more love as well as some clothes and a setting. I'm hoping it is just about finished! Of course, I'm always open to more suggestions. But, I hope you like this little clip in it's completeness.

Challenge #2 le'Update - Lauren

Here's a little update on the dialog piece. Basically, I've worked on the spine, neck, and a little of her head. I still have to do the shoulders, hands (yikes!) and of course... FACE! Her expressions are so extreme. I'm going to really tone down those huge eyes, clean up those blinks, and make the lip sync more accurate. Can't wait!

Hasta pasta,
Lauren

P.S. I love critiques! Don't worry about offending me, you won't. Unless you insult my birds. Then it's on.

Challenge #2 - Lauren

For my second challenge, I'm revisiting an AnimationMentor dialog test that I did for Class 4: Advanced Acting. I'm going to attempt to get this Old Bessy polished up by Tuesday May 7th at the latest. I'm giving myself extra time because my dear mom is coming into town for a visit and I'd like to spend some quality time! No offense to the animation gods, but sometimes it's nice to get out of the spline jungle for little while.

I'd love any feedback on this piece... I know, I know... She needs a lot of love, but I think it'll be fun to apply some of my newly acquired knowledge to her. I can already see oh-so-many notes to tackle! #1: Get some clothes on her, geez!

Week 1 - Done for a moment, see? - Lauren

I'm just about calling this one done (for now.) When I get a few more minutes, I'd still like to go in and smooth out some spacing here and there, especially on the little girl. Since I will be revisiting this piece sooner or later, I'd love to receive comments and feedback. (Nicholas, I'm still planning on making her reaction to the blower slightly more subtle...) Thanks so much!

Progress Post - Lauren's Week 1

Welp. I didn't quite make the deadline I'd set for myself for week 1... Why I thought I could finish polishing 16 seconds of animation in 2 days, I'll never know! But I'll post my progress which includes tinkering with the camera movements as well as reanimating Grampie's snore. I have a few more notes I'd like to fix before I call it Done-a-roo. (That's the technical term for done.) A big question I keep asking myself is: Did I lose some of the the little girl's sincerity by all my polishing? Somehow, I'm not sure if she's feeling better or worse. Oh! And I still need to think of a name for the her... any suggestions?
