Week 2, New Objective! - Erik

My objective for this week is to put the final polish on two demo reel shots. Company comes into to town Thursday night, so the deadline this week will be Thursday evening... Time to start Clicking!

On your mark! Get set! Call it done!

Hey everybody. I'm going to send this shot off with my demo reel very soon, so if you have feedback you'd like to share I'd love to hear it!

My short, so far...

I'm posting a slightly older version of my short just to give you some context for the story. I can't post the most recent version of my short because some areas are "under renovation." Sometimes you have to really tear something apart to make it look better in the end, but during renovation it just looks like... well you know. (Plus, now you can see what I mean about the hair problems. :)

A little introduction from Captain Time-Crunch

Hey Everyone!

Welcome to our new blog designed to help us push forward and animate our butts off!
I'm Lauren Wells, and although I just graduated from AnimationMentor.com, I still have quite a bit of polishing to do on my short film before I can call it done. My immediate goal is to finish my short film and maybe a dialog test or two.

Here’s how I’m basically planning on using this blog: 1. Break down my short film into bite size pieces to polish. 2. Create a deadline for a shot of choice (most likely every week.) 3. Meet the deadline. 4. Post my animation progress here as often as possible. Wish me luck with the challenge! Having deadlines will be beneficial because it will more accurately reflect a studio environment as well as give a feeling of small accomplishments in a huge undertaking.

I'd love to get as much feedback as possible on anything regarding my short or shot; from camera moves to coloring to lighting to animation! (The latter being the most important, of course.)

To start off this blog, I'd like to post what I'm currently working on. (For the record, I'm not polishing my short film in chronological order right now, so the bite size material I choose to work on for any given week may jump around a little.)
[Shot Heeds: Please ignore the little dollop of frosting that magically disappears from her nose. Also, I am having a rather large technical problem with parenting anything to the little girl rig's head. (This is the reason for her early-onset baldness.) Even the hat and frosting are behaving oddly, but they are less noticeable then the hair so I left them in.]

Ahoy from Captain Click-a-Lot!

Hi everybody,

This Blog has been specially and ergonomically designed to serve as a platform where we challenge ourselves as story tellers and animators to accomplish the extreme... animate our butts off!

How do we do it?

1. We choose a shot for the week or state our objective.

2. Brainstorm, plan, animate, and produce at dangerously high speeds; so fast, so vigorously, yet gently with attention to detail, our butts simply... fall off.

3. Reap the pleasures of the completed and sparkling shot!

We are the Playblasters!

Cool, so let's get started!
My weekly objectives will consist of shots from my in-progess short film that I began at AnimationMentor.com and a few dialogue and acting tests for a spicy variety.

My first official objective for the remainder of this week is to polish the shot below. I'm going to get in there and tackle animating the fingers, lip-sync and facial expressions.
It would be awesome to get any feedback!
